Our hospital's current visitor information
In order to keep a safe environment for our patients, it is important that all visitors understand our regulations while in the facility. Please note that these may vary by department, and exceptions may occur in certain cases, such as end-of-life care. Ask your nurse for specifics on the unit you're visiting.
- Visiting hours run daily from 7:30am to 8:30pm.
- Maintain social distancing of at least six feet from others.
- Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer when entering or exiting patient rooms.
- While there are no restrictions on the number of visitors allowed in patient rooms or the age of visitors, any child under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all time.
- Exceptions on the number of visitors allowed in patient rooms applies to both COVID-positive patients and those in the NICU.
- For NICU patients, a maximum of two visitors are allowed at a time, but visitors may change out. Children that would like to visit the NICU must be 14 years of age and older.
- If you are visiting a patient who is under observation or tests positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19), restrictions will remain the same.
- Only one designated visitor is allowed for one hour per day.
- Visitor is not able to change out with any other visitors.
- Visitor must check in at the unit station for donning and doffing of proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Level 3 mask and Face Shield must be worn the entire duration of your visit.
We are dedicated to keeping our communities informed regarding emergency situations that may impact patient care.
Circumstances may allow for specific exceptions to any visitation restrictions described on this webpage. Those circumstances include religious visitation as well as a designated support person for a patient with a disability to provide assistance with communication or other necessary components of the patient's treatment. All persons entering under an exception remain subject to appropriate infection control protocols.

The Service Partners Organization (SPO) Gift Shop in the Main Lobby of Research Medical Center offers gifts, flowers, jewelry, balloons, cards, magazines, snacks, seasonal items, and more.

The SPO Gift Shop is staffed by volunteers. Special events may be held throughout the year as fundraisers. SPO is a charitable, not-for-profit volunteer organization that provides support for the health-related education and welfare of those in the healthcare community. We have extended our mission to the community through our granting and fund-raising committees. Proceeds from the SPO Gift Shop are used for grants. Not-for-profit groups are eligible to request funds through the granting committee.

Hospital visiting hours
Family and friends play an integral part in the health and well-being of patients. That's why we encourage the presence and participation of visitors in our patients' care. They are valued partners in our care team.
Our visiting hours are between 7:30am and 8:30pm.
- No visitors are allowed inside the hospital outside of these times.
- No restrictions on number of visitors or age restriction except for NICU and COVID+ patients.
- For NICU, a maximum of two visitors at a time, but visitors may change out. Children that would like to visit the NICU must be 14 years of age and older.
- Throughout the hospital, any child under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- Please note that this may vary by department. Please ask your nurse for specifics on your unit.
COVID+ patients will remain the same per the following:
- Only one designated visitor during stay for one hour per day.
- Visitor is not able to change out with any other visitors.
- Visitor must check in at unit station for donning and doffing of proper PPE.
- Exceptions are allowed for end-of-life care.
COVID+ Patient Visitors PPE Selection
- Level 3 mask and Face Shield must be worn the entire duration of your visit. Failure to do so may result in visitor losing privileges to visit again.
- Visitors will be instructed on the importance of hand hygiene, especially once leaving patient room and prior to removing PPE, and then again after removing PPE.
For general safety, and to reduce the spread of respiratory illnesses, we continue to request that you adhere to the following policies:
- Maintain social distancing of at least six feet from others.
- Wash hands or use hand sanitizer when entering or exiting patient rooms.
- For the well-being of our patients, there may be times when we need to temporarily limit visitation, and when these situations occur, we will fully inform patients and their loved ones.
- Aggressive behavior will not be tolerated. Examples include: physical assault, verbal harassment, foul language, or threats.
Failure to comply with the above guidelines may result in loss of privileges. We strive to balance visitation with our patients' needs for a quiet, restful and safe environment and will work with you to come up with a visitation plan that best meets you and your loved one's needs. Visitor accommodations / lodging
To stay close while your loved one is hospitalized, we offer the option of a recliner chair and/or rollaway bed in the patient room for one family member for overnight stays. For the family of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients, we offer family rooms. Please call (816) 276-4120 for reservations. RV hook-up is also available by calling (816) 276-4411.
